Congratulations!

My friend Becca of The Bedrest Chronicles gave birth to a healthy baby girl on Friday 12/21.  Charlotte Eve is lucky to have such a wonderful family to welcome her into this world. 

Becca will probably kill me for posting this picture, which her husband texted me about 20 minutes after giving birth, but I think she looks phenomenal!!!  Funny story, I text Becca to see if she was still pregnant and this pic was my reply.

Welcome Charlotte!  And Congrats to Asher and Ben for becoming big brothers!

5 Things for Friday: Things I don't get on Pinterest edition

1.  Ring Holders specifically designed for you wedding & engagement rings -- I have seen these on Pinterest and I just have to ask "who takes their wedding and engagement rings off?"  Now, in all fairness it would take an act of god to get my rings off my finger right now, but show of going in for surgery, they NEVER came off my finger before.  Want a good holder for your wedding/engagement ring... how about your finger?

2.  Wedding Boards -- Now, I completely understand a wedding board... back in my day we used a scrap book, but I get that.  But have you seen some of these?  They are completely ridonkulous!  These women/girls are pinning away micromanaging every single teeny weeny facet of the day... down to how the guests are going to dance, what the best man will say... You know what I never see?  a marriage board.  Hey ladies... the wedding is one day... the marriage is supposed to last a life time... you might want to pin a little more about that.

3.  "The Bucket List" Phenomenon -- I understand that people have dreams and ambitions.  Things that they hope/want to accomplish in life. However, you can't "Bucket List" everything.  The wedding bucket list, the summer bucket list, the toddler years bucket list, the crafting bucket list, etc.; is in my opinion, taking it just a little bit too far.  Maybe spend a little more time doing the things on this list and less time listing them obsessively.

4.  Thinspo (Thinspiration) -- This was such a controversy, the Pinterest actually made people take down their Thinspiration boards.  if you don't know, these were boards people used to inspire them to be thinner and usually contained pics of severely anorexic women.  Now I get self improvement and even wanting to lose a few pounds but when you have only pinned pictures of women's body parts and not a single picture of a whole woman, I have issues.  Our society has trained everyone to objectify women.  Not to see them as a whole, or even as the sum of their parts, but to actually see them AS parts.  Breasts, face, Butt, legs.. not a whole person.  When I see woman after woman pinning the same body parts in the same objectified way, I want to go into their board and pin a picture of a brain... because that is the part that seems to need the most work.

5.  The OBSESSION with putting things in jars -- Now I love me a mason jar.  They are great for canning and preserving, they are handy for storing things, but not everything needs to be baked in one, gifted in one, drank out of one, eaten out of one, etc.  There are other kinds of containers that should be explored.

5Things for Friday -- The "I want" Edition

Here are a few things that I have had my eye on for the house...

1.  I have loved this pillow ever since I first saw it many, many moons ago.  But with a price tag of $196, unless I find one at goodwill, I don't think it will be mine any time soon

2.  Since only Nate and I use the paper Dixi cups in the bathroom, I would love to replace them with 2 of these steel cups instead.  Alas, they are sold out at the moment.

3.  The Cup Wow (found at www.cupwow.com) aka, a drinking lid for your mason jar.  Am eco-friendly, frugal, non plastic travel mug.  Gotta get me one (or two) of these.

4.  I love the Iphone case I have right now, but how awesome would it be to have a case that I cross-stitched???

5.  I would love to be able to find another jar of Biscoff Spread.  It is so good!

5 Random Things for Wednesday -- The "I don't get it" edition

1.  Mustaches -- Not the kind made of facial hair the other kind.  The kind that everyone seems to be obsessed with.  The ones that are showing up on mugs, necklaces, on sticks to be held up in photos... I don't really get it.
2.  Open Toe Boots -- boots keep your feet warm, open toes keep your feet cool... "One cannot exist while the other lives"
3. Rubber Rain Boots on Adults -- seriously... they are plastic people.  Adults should not wear plastic shoes.  The end!
4.   Quidditch Leagues -- Yes, people get together on the weekends and run around with brooms clamped between their thighs and try to throw soccer balls through hula hoops in sticks.  Does not compute!!!!
5.  This Obsession with Candy Corn -- Sure, its cute.  Sure you can only get it one time of year, but everywhere I turn everything is candy corn themed.  Fudge, waffles, cupcakes, crafts, costumes, socks, it going on and on.  I don't have anything again candy corn, but in the battle of best candy, candy corn hardly enters the competition.

5 Random Things for Friday -- Junk Food Edition

1.  My favorite junk food of all time is Combos.  Specifically the pretzel and artificial orange cheese variety. 
2.  Second to combos are Pringles.  I used to eat them an entire tube at a time.  One tube= one serving right?  right?????
3.  I sincerely hope that Nate does not love junk food as much as I do, but I fear it is already too late.  The kid LOVES pop tarts...

4. I have never eaten a twinkie.  Never.  and I hope to keep that record going for the rest of my life.
5.  Snickers is the king of the candy bars, hands down, end of story.

5 Random Things For Friday -- Coffee Edition

1. I like my coffee with lots of cream and lots of sugar.  I know this is not good for my so I usually drink it with lots of cream (heavy cream) and 2 splendas.
2. Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes call my name in the middle of the night.
3. The very best gingerbread latte is from Seattle's Best Coffee, which make me really bummed that Borders is closing as there are no stand alone Seattle's Best Coffee around here :(
4. There used to be this great little Bistro called the Back Porch or the Front Porch or something with a Porch in it.  Anyway they were a Bistro with a good old-fashioned ice cream parlor in it.  My favorite ice cream sundae is coffee ice cream with carmel and wet walnuts with whipped cream on top.  Yum!
5. My most pretentious Starbucks drink order is a Venti Iced Americano sweet with room.  In the scheme of things it is not even that pretentious but is slightly more high maintenance than saying a large iced coffee.
