Home Management Binder in Pictures

As promised, here is what my HMB looks like...

The Front Cover

The Inside Cover

Next Comes the zippered pouch where I keep Post it notes, extra pens, sticky tabs, a dry erase marker, and whiteout tape.

Next is my "Schedules" section. There isn't anything in this section at the moment since my schedule is dictated by the hours that I work, however, all of this is subject to change so I have the section ready for when I need it.

Next comes my cleaning section. Here I have various recipes for homemade cleaning products and laundry detergents, both liquid and powder. I also keep my daily cleaning task lists and monthly cleaning task lists in this section.

For example, the "Week at a Glance"

Next is my "Recipes" section. This is where I keep some recipes for homemade convenience foods from the Hillbilly Housewife and the sour dough starter from Candy, dog biscuit recipes, and other goodies that don't really belong in my regular recipe box.

After that comes my "Pregnancy" section. I am not currently pregnant, but I hope too be shortly, in the near future, some day, and it never hurts to be prepared. I have lists of foods to avoid, how to protect your fertility, instructions on cloth diapers, breastfeeding, and all sorts of good stuff.

After that is the "Health and Beauty" section with recipes for homemade bath and body products. I have a sugar scrub recipe that is to die for!

Then there is the "List" section. I am a librarian and I like lists of things... best books, 100 most frequently challanged books, AFI's 100 Years, 100 Movies, etc.

Next comes my "Birthday" section. I have all my friend and family birthdays broken up by month so that I know when to send a card.

I have added a few more sections that I don't have pictures for including "Disaster Preparedness" and Flylady's Holiday Control Journal. I also have my scrap paper and a notebook where I keep track of gifts I have purchased, menus I am creating, lists of home improvements that need to be completed.

Finally, there is the back cover.

I hope that you have all enjoyed this journey thought my HMB. It is a great tool for keeping yourself organized and boy am I glad I created one. :)

Home Management Binder

Although it is safe to say that Candy at Home Sweet Home and I differ on many many things, I do LOVE the idea of the Home Management Binder. There is something in me that demands organization (go figure I'm a librarian, I organize for a living) so when I heard of this concept I was hooked. I have created my very own Home Management Binder and will be sharing pictures of it tonight. I'm at work right now and the camera and binder are at home so... stay tuned :)

Too Funny!

Since my blog is titled Cuppa, Cuppa, Cuppa, I had to post a link to an old post on My House is Cuter Than Yours that I just found in which someone actually made the Cuppa, Cuppa, Cuppa recipe.

Eeeks! Check out the Armadillo cake :)

Goodwill Finds

I am addicted to Like Merchant Ships and have been inspired to do less of my shopping at the mall and at retail store like Target and more at thrift shops, yard sales, and Goodwill. Since it is 20 degrees outside yard sales aren't an option at the moment, but Goodwill is. I have made a point of stopping by once a week to see what secondhand goodies they have.

This week I found:

  1. Simple Abundance for $.99

  2. The Portion Plan for $.99

  3. A blue-green earthenware vase for $2.99 (which will end of being a mother's day gift for my husband's grandmother)

Last week's finds were even better, I will post about them tomorrow with pictures!

Thanks Meredith for the inspiration!

Anti-Procrastination Day 4?

Today I have house guests arriving from Alaska so much of this morning has been getting the house ready and enjoying the fact that I have the day off from work. I did take time this morning to pay our Bills something I've been neglecting for a few days. I also washed all the "special" laundry; sweaters that need special treatment, dog bedding, etc.

Good luck with the challenge today!

Snow Puppy

We had our first significant (if you can call 1" significant) snow fall last night. This is the first time our dog has ever seen snow... and boy did he LOVE it!

Addendum to Yesterday

The curtains got hung! I am SO excited this was a project I have been putting off but with my hubby's help we hung them.

The curtains are the insulated ones from Plow & Hearth. Hopefully they will help keep our heating bill down.

And here is an up close (and personal) shot of the finial.

Also, as a bonus, I cleaned the dried mud off of my clogs. This may seem insignificant, but the shoes in question have been sitting all muddy and useless ontop of my kitchen trashcan for the last couple of days making it virtually impossible to put something/anything in the trash.

I hope everyone else is doing as well with this Anti-Procrastination challange!

Anti-Procrastination Day 3 (for me)

The day is still young but I have alreday (YEAH ME!) tackled one thing I am been procratinating on... RECYCLING!

Since our recycling bins are outside and it is cold outside, the things that need to be recylced tend to pile up on the kitchen counter. Since we are have a guest for the weekend it was imperative that the recycling get taken out... and it did, this morning, on my way to work.

Hopefully I can report tomorrow that the ever elusive curtain for the sliding glass door has been hung.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Anti-Procrastination Day 2

I really am trying to stick with this. So far today I have taken care of three things that I have been procrastinating about

  1. I returned some fabric to Joann's

  2. I took 3 HUGE bags of junk to Goodwill

  3. I took two slightly smaller bags to the consignment shop,/li>

Boy does it feel good to clean out.

Since I will be at work late tonight, I don't think anything else will be getting finished, but who knows... stranger things have happened :)

Procrastination Challenge

OK, so I have taken Mrs. Wilt's challenge and begun ending my procrastination. Since I work full time it is really hard to fit these tasks into my every day routine, but I did manage to do two things that I had been putting off.

  1. I cleaned out my handbag. I know it's not an earth shaking thing to do, but I have been putting it off and it is finished now.

  2. I finally transfered my laundry products to nice class canisters and made creative and decorative labels for them.

It's not much but it feels good. Tonight I will hang the new curtain rod and thermal curtains I bought for the sliding glass door in the kitchen.
